Glutamine, also L-Glutamine, is a so-called α-amino acid. This amino acid is non-essential for humans, as the body is most commonly able to synthesise sufficient quantities from BCAA.
But additional supplements of L-Glutamine are very popular, especially in sports nutrition. In this field glutamine is among the most popular dietary supplements. A reason for this is that L-Glutamine accounts for a large proportion of free amino acids in the haemoplasma, representing roughly 20 %.
